FAQs

Cosmetic Breast Surgery FAQs
Will breast augmentation increase my risk of breast cancer?
No, Breast augmentation does not increase the risk of developing breast cancer and implants do not typically conceal palpable breast lumps. However, additional mammography views may be necessary during breast cancer screening to ensure a complete and accurate assessment of the entire breast.
How do I choose my new size?
During the consultation, your plastic surgeon will work with you to find your desired size through our 3D imaging technology so that your expectations are clearly communicated and visualised.
Will I lose feeling in my nipple?
Temporary changes in nipple sensitivity (whether numbness or hypersensitivity) after breast augmentation surgery may be expected. Rest assured that sensation typically returns to normal several months later, especially when in the hands of an experienced surgeon.
Will recovery time be long and painful?
Initial recovery usually takes one to two weeks, although the final results will take months to show. Some pain or discomfort will be experienced initially, but your doctor will typically prescribe pain medications and recommend proper care measures that will ease the discomfort and promote faster healing.
Will additional procedures be needed in the future?
Although breast implant technology has improved significantly, most will still require replacement in around 10-20 years’ time, depending on the type of implant, its integrity, one’s breast health and other factors. As one ages and the breasts sag, one may also consider a breast lift in the future to restore the position of their breasts as well.
Can I breastfeed after having breast surgery?
Yes, breastfeeding with implants is possible and safe. You should discuss your breastfeeding needs with your surgeon during the consultation.
Are scars permanent?
For breast augmentation, there is minimal to no visible scarring. For breast lifts, although scars tend to be more visible, their appearance typically improves over time. Furthermore, our clinic offers post-surgical laser scar care for improved scar and incision healing.
How soon will it take to see results?
Following breast augmentation surgery, it typically takes weeks for the discomfort and swelling to subside, and as long as 3-4 months before you can fully appreciate the final outcomes of the procedure.
